A Look Back...
Patina Reflects on 2006!
2006 marked Patina’s 20th anniversary, an extraordinary milestone for any company but even more so for one that has become a leader in its industry.
With the New Year upon us, we thought we’d break from our usual format and take a moment to look back at last year.
From all of us at Patina, Inc. we wish you a Happy and Successful New Year!
The Year Of The Rep...
Patina Welcomes New Sales Reps in 2006!
An important part of Patina's growth and success in 2006 was the addition of new sales reps in Boston, New York, Los Angeles and Atlanta.
The new Atlanta Reps, Grizzel & Mann, came about through Marylu Stevens' decision to leave the Patina showroom and offices in the Atlanta Decorative Arts Center, in favor of acquiring its own building and warehouse nearby.
“We want to concentrate our energy on developing new pieces across our existing lines, improving production and developing new artists at our Italian manufacturing facilities”, said Marylu, “At the same time, we want to enhance our customer service to designers and their clients in the southeast."
Patina’s collections can be seen in the Grizzel & Mann showroom, which encompasses over 16,000 square feet of space on 2 floors at ADAC. “We have a great line to represent in Patina, one that we’ve admired for years”, says Gary Mann, “I think it adds to our mix at Grizzel and Mann. It complements the case goods and the fabric lines beautifully. It’s going to be a great marriage.”
The Martin Group, Inc., a sixteen year old family owned and operated company, offers the finest fabric, wall covering, furniture, lighting and accessories available and now proudly represents Patina Inc. in the Boston area.
“It’s a particularly exciting time for us to be going with The Martin Group because they’re expanding their showroom,” explains Patina president Marylu Stevens, “And Garry Martin has a great plan for exhibiting his furniture lines in the new space.”
“Patina has a great reputation,” says Martin Group president Garry Martin, “The pieces, in person, are much more beautiful than they are in the catalog. When I went down to Atlanta and saw what they had I absolutely loved it.”
Bausman & Company was founded in Ontario, California in 1971. Since that time, steady growth has enabled the company to become one of the leading manufacturers of French and English reproduction furniture on the West Coast.
In their Los Angeles showroom they rep their own line of furniture, as well as select offerings by other companies including Lambert Bloomfield, O'Brien Ironworks and now Patina.
“Los Angeles is a huge market for Bausman & Company furniture,” says Wendy Kneedler, Showroom Manager, “But what we’ve found, here in the showroom, is that it needs to be balanced with other product and Patina is a perfect product for this. There’s no competition between the lines and it is a counterpoint that’s just wonderful.”
Patina is proud that Summer Hill, Ltd, is its exclusive representative in the New York Metro area.“We are extremely happy that Summer Hill has joined the Patina family,” says Marylu Stevens, “We’re looking forward to energizing our presence in New York and they’re just the right people to do it.”

The Year Of New Product...
Patina Introduces New Product Lines in 2006!
Classic design, texture, rich color and comfort are the hallmarks of the Pompeii Collection from Patina, Inc. One of the most popular designs in the new collection is the Palestrina Day Bed.
Inspired by a Swedish youth bed, it is the same size as a single bed or twin bed and works equally well as a bed or a lounge, against a wall or “floating” in a room.
The Day Bed is available in any of the standard finishes as well as the new “Pompeii finish” which is a “premium” finish, distinguished by the additional layers of gesso and texture.
Times and technology have changed—with new, thinner but larger plasma screens becoming the norm. In keeping with this trend, Patina is now offering a better solution for disguising these wide screen sets, the Plasma Secretary.
Based on the Palazzo secretary form and available in all of the Patina hand painted designs, as well as custom colors, the secretary is designed to hold up to a 35-inch wide plasma screen.
“The real beauty of this piece is that it’s not your typical TV cabinet,” says Patina president Marylu Stevens, “It not only looks like a secretary but still retains the functional writing desk and storage space of our traditional model.”
“I think this piece could be particularly nice in a room where space is very limited, in a small den, for example, or in a guest room; anywhere that dual-functionality is required.”
Beds have been the Patina “signature” piece and Patina believes it’s only natural to add dog beds to the line; besides they’re absolutely adorable!

The Patina Dog Bed is a miniature version of the Patina “people” beds. Currently, offered in the B19 and B59 frame styles, painted and finished by the same artists that finish all of our furniture. The beds are available in 3 different sizes: small, medium, and large.
