Patina Welcomes Summer Hill Ltd. As Its New Chicago Rep...

Chicago is the financial, business, and cultural capital of the Midwest. With a population of nearly three million people, and a metropolitan area that stretches into 3 states, it is the third-most populous city in the United States.

Chicago has seen a resurgence in recent years, with many families moving back in to the downtown area that had once been abandoned for more suburban locales.

It is this urban Renaissance and regional influence that makes Chicago an important city for Patina and we're very happy to report that as of April, 2007 we are exclusively represented there by Summer Hill, Ltd. one of Chicago's premiere showrooms.

"We saw it as a perfect fit," says showroom manager Sarah Gately, "80% of our fabric, wall covering and upholstery lines and all of our furniture lines are custom capable. Patina does such a good job with their custom pieces that it just made sense."

With its 7,800 sq. ft. showroom in Chicago's Merchant Mart, filled with fine textiles and furniture Summer Hill has become a "destination point" for a designers in the area and they've done some interesting things with their Patina pieces.

"We boutiqued a bedroom consisting of a Patina bed, bench, desk and side chair then we completely swathed the room with gorgeous fabric draping."

They've also cross merchandised Patina with more modern pieces. "We have a beautiful Swedish desk with a Patina mirror over it. They work very well together."

It's that kind of thinking that has everyone at Patina excited about this new relationship. "We're so happy to be working with Summer Hill Ltd. in Chicago," says Marylu Stevens, President and CEO of Patina, Inc., "They certainly have their finger on the pulse of that city and they're an important resource for designers across the Midwest,"

A Patina Classic!

The Classico Chair

There’s hardly anything more ‘classic’ than our Classico Chair. We found the original in a small antique shop in the south of England in Surrey.

Sometimes described as "umbrella back" or "spider web back", the Classico Chair (model number S01/AR/CN/BK-SL/PU), comes with either an upholstered seat or a cane seat.

The accent color on the interior of the spokes can be selected from our base color options or, as always, a custom color may always be substituted. The medallion in the center of the chair can be a putto, rose or urn; on the back of the medallion is a painted rose bud.

Whether you refer to the design as "umbrella back" or "spider back", it’s a must for any elegant, candle-lit dining room.
