The Patina Bulletin October 2007

On the Road With...

Patina in Boston and New York City .

Patina markets its furniture exclusively to interior designers through a series of regional sales representatives both in the U.S. and around the world.

These regional reps, located in all the major design centers, are an important part of the Patina family. Their showrooms are the designer's playground; a place to mix and match styles, explore paint finishes and exotic fabrics and let their creative process flow.

Patina prides itself on making sure that its reps have all the tools and knowledge to help its client designers create their dream looks.

In keeping with that tradition, Patina Sales Manager, Tina Marion recently made her first whirlwind trip to both Boston and New York City to visit with Patina sales reps, The Martin Group, Inc. and Summer Hill, Ltd to lead sales training sessions and to get feedback on the Patina line.

"I think it's important to get out to the showrooms," says Tina, "It gives me a chance to see how the reps work, to see their process and get a feel for their clients, the designers, as well. We want to make sure that every sales rep is an advocate for the designer, that's why we do the training."

The training sessions cover everything in the Patina Handbook from model numbers and order processing to shipping policies and damage issues. "I spend as much time as I can and answer all the questions they have about custom orders, finishes and decoration. We now have a set of finish samples in each showroom to give the reps and the designers a complete look at the full line of Patina finishes."

Boston and New York City are just the first stops in what could be a very busy year for Tina. There are plans for similar trips to Washington, D.C. and Philadelphia in the works and more to come.

"This trip was definitely a success," says Tina, " I want to get out to every rep and every showroom. We're making a conscious effort to grow sales by improving our relationships with our reps and their designers by building their knowledge of the entire Patina line."

A Patina Classic!

The Veneto Chest

The Veneto Chest is a mainstay of the Patina line. It was one of the first pieces we produced and holds a special place in our hearts. The inspiration for the Veneto Chest, as well as many other pieces in our line, was an antique. The original chest was found in an antique shop in Provence.

In this case the original antique was unpainted; stained wood; country French. We altered it a bit by replacing the original brass pulls with our exquisitely carved shell pulls and, of course, the paint and decoration to give it a more sophisticated Italian look.

The Veneto Chest is perfect in a bedroom, entryway, living room or den. It has a classic bombe shape and is available in 3 sizes: small (28” X 17” X 28”), medium (38” X 19” X 32.5”) or large (47” X 21” X 34.5”); either as a 3 drawer chest or cabinet.
